Quinnipiac's first annual Spirit Week is just around the corner.

Spirit Week will occur between Sunday Feb. 17 and Saturday Feb. 23, and will be filled with several events each day.

"We're trying to have as much stuff happen in one week as possible," said Katelynn Rourke, a junior management major, and Vice President of Public Relations for SGA.

According to Rourke, the idea for Spirit Week first surfaced during a conversation between herself and Alysse Rossner, the Vice President of Programming for SGA, near the end of the last school year.

"We needed to do something to have school spirit, but without the drinking problems of May Weekend, and it all just fell into place," Rourke said.

This week-long celebration of Quinnipiac has officially been in the works for several months.

"Me and Alysse started planning it at the end of last year, but the Spirit Week committee has been meeting since the beginning of the year," said Rourke.

Each day during Spirit Week will have its own theme, complete with its own events and prizes.

The week will kick off with the "Bobcat Bash," a dance to be held in Alumni Hall on Sunday night.

Monday is slated to be Appreciation Day, with several events like "Coffee for Commuters," "RHD Penny Wars," and "My R.A. is better than yours!" scheduled throughout the day.

Tuesday will be Professional Sports Day, where students can represent their favorite pro teams by wearing their gear and attending events like "Pro Sports Penny Wars" and "Pro Sports Tailgate."

Students can celebrate their favorite clubs on Wednesday, which will be Organization's Day. The Student Center organizations hallway will be decorated and there will be an "Organizational Food Feast," where students can sample dishes sponsored by their favorite student groups.

Expect to see plenty of school colors on Thursday, Blue and Gold Day. Students lucky enough to encounter the Bobcat Bandits while wearing blue and gold will receive prizes.
