Fifty-eight percent of Costa Rican women have been victims of domestic violence at least once in their lifetime. But with new legislation the country is working to decrease that percentage and to change the expectations of little girls by teaching them “Vivir Sin Violencia es su Derecho,” which translates as “to live without violence is their right.”

QU STAND is an anti-genocide student group that debuted at Quinnipiac last week. It is one of more than 600 high school and college chapters across the country that advocate to end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

The TD Banknorth Sports Center is finally complete. For the first time in my three years here, I’ve had to stand in line to get tickets to games. I waited half an hour in the snow for a shuttle back to campus after going to a hockey game on a Tuesday night.

Yom Kippur not just another day off

For many Quinnipiac students, Yom Kippur is just a day without classes and a chance to sleep late and procrastinate on work, but for Jewish everywhere it’s one of the most important days of the year.
Yom Kippur literally means “Day of Atonement.” It begins at sundown the night before and lasts until sundown the next day.
