Katie Latonick: Still feeding her team

Katie Latonick has played lacrosse side-by-side with her twin sister for seven years, but this year she was on her own. After red-shirting her freshman year, Katie Latonick came back this season without her sister, Meghan, as a graduate student on the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team. After toying with just graduating and not playing her fourth eligible season, but then “a lot of convincing from (head coach) Danie (Caro)” Latonick decided to come back, which seems to have been the right choice.

Oppenheimer’s efforts fall short against Buckeyes

Junior Jack Oppenheimer scored four goals and tallied two assists, but the Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team was defeated by Ohio State, 10-8, in an Eastern College Athletic Conference matchup at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Field on Saturday.

Latonick leads lacrosse in rout of CCSU

The women’s lacrosse team beat in-state rival Central Connecticut, 20-4, in a Northeast Conference matchup Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field. Senior captain Katie Latonick led the Bobcats (2-4, 2-0 NEC) with a season-best eight points (four goals and four assists).

Women’s Basketball: QU falls to Mount St. Mary’s 59-53

The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team lost to Mount St. Mary’s, 59-53, at the TD Bank Sports Center Thursday. The Northeast Conference loss leaves the Bobcats with a 1-1 overall record in the NEC and 6-7 overall. The Mountaineers improve to 1-2 in the NEC and 5-8 overall.

Women’s Basketball: Bobcats blown out by Providence

The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team lost 84-61 to Providence College in a non-conference game at Mullaney Gymnasium Tuesday night.
Senior Kathleen Neyens had five early points to give her team an 8-5 lead. Providence responded with an 11-2 run to take a 13-point lead.

Volleyball: Pioneers put down Bobcats in straight sets

The Quinnipiac volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Sacred Heart Sunday afternoon at the Burt Kahn Court. Freshman Logan Riker finished the match with 11 digs despite the loss.
Kayla Lawler had 19 assists and eight digs, and Kelby Carey posted a team-high seven kills.

Men’s Soccer: Bare weekend

The Quinnipiac men’s soccer team hadn’t lost a game to a Northeast Conference opponent all season until losing to two playoff contenders this weekend – the Monmouth Hawks, 4-3, and the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers, 2-0.
Friday’s game was decided in overtime thanks to Quinnipiac senior midfielder Shane Recklet’s game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation.

Spikers drop two at home

The Quinnipiac volleyball team fell to the Binghamton Bearcats 3-1 on Sunday at Burt Kahn Court. Freshman Chelsey Pachoud had a team-high 11 kills in the match and the Bobcats dropped to 1-14 for the season, while the Bearcats improved to 7-8.
Binghamton took the first set 25-19.

Women’s soccer fights to tie against URI

Sophomore Furtuna Velaj tallied two goals for the Quinnipiac women’s soccer team in the 2-2 double overtime game against the University of Rhode Island Sunday, Sept. 20 at the URI Soccer Complex in Kingston, R.I.
Rhode Island’s Kristie Moltz opened the scoring in the 13th minute as she lifted the ball high into the net from a crossing pass in the 18-yard box.

QU Habitat builds houses, hope

A smoky cloud of sawdust filled the worksite as 18 Quinnipiac University students were framing a house on their spring break trip to Chatham County, N.C., March 7 through 14.
Quinnipiac’s Habitat for Humanity, a community-service student organization, builds and rehabilitates houses to fight homelessness.
