New style of journalism popular with writers

In the 1960’s and 1970’s, writers such as Tom Wolfe and Truman Capote pioneered a new journalistic form, breaking through simple fact reporting and changing the narrative scope to deliver stories centered on the reporters point of view. Coined by Wolfe, “New Journalism” swept the literary world by storm and brought non-fiction to an uncommon high.

A celebration of body and mind with Julia’s Run

The life of Julia Rusinek was remembered during Yale University’s annual fundraising program, Julia’s Run. The four-mile run through downtown New Haven raises money for LEAP (Leadership, Education, Athletic in Participation), a mentorship program for inner city children.

Town council to make decision on sewage plan

The Hamden Town Council met at the Miller Library to discuss its involvement in a regionalization of sewage control. Among the towns involved, which include Woodbridge, East Haven, Hamden, and New Haven, Hamden is the only town unsure about the benefits this change offers.

Students use computer technology in science labs

About 4 and half years ago Dr. Harry Pylypiw, an associate professor of chemistry, urged Quinnipiac to take computers and use them for science applications; specifically, with the Science (SC) 102 labs. When the science department approved the course enhancements to go to computers, many non-major science students traded their beakers for keyboards.

Religious groups for students diverse at Quinnipiac

With a variety of students with different religious backgrounds present at Quinnipiac University, three groups are responding to students’ quests for faith: Branches, HILLEL and Christian Fellowship.
“Students need somewhere to nurture their spirituality,” Reverend Vernon Thompson, the university’s Protestant Chaplain, said.
