The date was April 26, 2008 and the Quinnipiac men’s lacrosse team was hosting Bellarmine in desperate need of a win in order to qualify for the upcoming Great Western Lacrosse League playoffs in Detroit. With the game tied at five in the waning minutes of the contest, the Bobcats were granted a critical man-up opportunity. Coach Eric Fekete decided to throw his seldom-used freshman attacker Jack Oppenheimer into the fire and the kid responded with the game-winning goal, a moment he still regards as the highlight of his Bobcat career.

Baseball wins conference opener

Led by a dominating complete game performance by senior pitcher Mike Oskandy, the Quinnipiac baseball team earned the first win of its 2010 campaign by beating Mount St. Mary’s, 9-1, in the conference opener.

Despite some strong individual performances, the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team fell to the Long Island University Blackbirds, 66-54. For Senior Day, the Bobcats honored their four seniors, Kathleen Neyens, Krystal Lazos, Sarah McGowan and Megan Barnum, before the game.

Men’s basketball completes sweep of Sacred Heart

In front of a raucous student section and the largest crowd all season at the TD Bank Sports Center, the Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s basketball team defeated their in-state rival, the Sacred Heart Pioneers, for the second time in three days by a tally of 90-87.

The Mount ends Bobcats’ first-place run

The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers ended Quinnipiac’s eight-game winning streak and ousted the Bobcats from first place in the Northeast Conference on Saturday night with a 61-56 win at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Md.

A 50-point outburst in the second half by the Quinnipiac men’s basketball team led the Bobcats past the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils 75-62 at the TD Bank Sports Center on Sunday.
