This is one of five meeting rooms that the new Carl Hansen Student Center will include. Student organizations will reserve these rooms to hold meetings.
Piazza & Gas Fireplace
The new student center will include a large open area with comfy chairs and counches for students to meet and hang out. Joseph Rubertone, associate vice president for facilities administration, said this will be the “living room” of the campus.
Student Media Suite
Student media will be moving out of the trailer in south lot and into the new media suite. The Chronicle, The Montage, The Summit Q30 and QBSN will share this space to meet and produce their content. This space will also include a TV studio for Q30′s broadcasts.
Greek Life
Greek Life will have a new home. This area will contain meeting space and offices for the Greek organizations on campus.
Walkway to Rotunda
This area will serve as a connection between the upper level dining hall and the new student center.
Piazza Overlook
The new student center will have two overlook lounges on the second floor overlooking the quad and the campus. The second floor will open up and overlook the campus "living room" and the gas fireplace. There will be a grand staircase on each side of the fireplace to get to the first floor.
Games & commuter lockers
Commuters will have access to lockers to store their personal items during the school day. There are plans to have games in thie area, including pool tables.
Multi-purpose room
The second floor of the student center will include a large meeting room with a 44-seat table. The multi-purpose room will also have a 12 foot projection screen.
Student organization lockers
The student center does not have enough space to dedicate a room for every student organization, but the university has plans to accomidate them. Organizations can reserve one of the five rooms to hold meetings, and store all their organizations equipment in these lockers.
